The LO girls varsity bowling team attended the Fifteenth Annual Oakland County Girls Tournament on Sunday, January 20, 2019 @ Cherry Hill Lanes in Clarkston. Qualifying consists of 3 games of 5 bowlers and 4 baker games. The top 10 games and series after qualifying are awarded with medals. The top 16 qualifying teams will be seeded in an NCAA Bracket Format. Match play consisted of two baker games total pins where the winner moves on.
The LO girls varsity qualified 1st with 3568 pins after finishing the 3 regular games and 4 bakers. Cheyenne Washington was awarded medals for her 8th place 582 series and a 6th place for her 226 game. Grace Tefend received a medal for her 8th place 223 game.
First opponent for LO after the qualifying round was the 16th place Walled Lake Northern. The girls won this match with their 329 baker series (167, 162) to WLN’s baker series 210 (95, 115).
Our next match up was Waterford Mott. The first baker games was lost to Waterford Mott 179 to 160. The girls were 19 pins down going into game two and even though they bowled a clean game (Strikes and spares with no misses) of 195 to their 194 the lanes were in favor of Mott this round and the dragons finished the tournament in 5th place.
