The freshman boys basketball team played shorthanded but battled to end as the Dragons fall in overtime 34-33 to Pontiac.
Lake Orion was missing 3 players with the flu but was able to take a 7-6 lead after the first quarter. Pontiac battled back and took a 16-14 lead at the half. The Dragons struggled offensively in the 3rd quarter and were down 27-22 going into the final 8 minutes. However, the defense kicked in and Lake Orion tied the game at 32 at the end of regulation. It was a defensive battle in the extra session as neither team able to score until the final seconds. Lake Orion took a 1 point lead with 30-seconds to play but Pontiac scored with just 5 seconds left to take a 1-point lead. Lake Orion got two good shots in the final seconds but missed both to lose 34-33.
The Dragons were led by Andrew Bryant’s 19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
Nick Fisher and Jagger Sines both scored 5 points. Nick added 1 steal. Jagger had 5 rebounds and 1 steal.
Will McClear scored 3 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 8 steals.
With the loss Lake Orion falls to 9 and 5 overall and 7-2 in the OAA Blue Division.
The Dragons host Rochester on Tuesday in the Fieldhouse.
