The freshman boys basketball team was solid on both ends of the court as they fought off a final quarter rally by Berkley to beat the Bears 47-45.
The Dragons were down after the first quarter 13-10 but rallied in the 2nd quarter for a 25-17 halftime lead. Lake Orion continued its strong play in the 3rd quarter to take a 37-28 advantage into the final quarter. The Bears would not go away and cut the lead to 1 with 14 seconds left but the Dragons held Berkley to a last second desperation 3 that missed the mark to take the 2-point win.
Andrew Bryant led Lake Orion with 15 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals.
Nick Fisher had 12 points with 1 rebound, 4 assists and 1 steal.
Brennan Jones scored 9 points with 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
With the victory the freshman boys basketball team improves to 13-6 overall and 10-3 in OAA Blue Division play and is tied for first place with Berkley and Ferndale.
The Dragons close out the season on Thursday at Royal Oak.
