The Varsity Boys Swim team welcomed over 200 swimmers from seven Oakland County schools to the Lake Orion Natatorium on Wednesday, February 20. The Dragon swimmers displayed amazing results with every member of the team beating their personal best time. Senior Zahir Selem took first and advanced to state competition in both the 100 yd butterfly and 100 yard backstroke. Dragon relays advancing to states are composed of sophomore Dane Herrick and seniors Zahir Selem, Danny Reimchen and Willie Woods in the 200 yd medley and sophomore Dane Herrick and seniors Zahir Selem, Willie Woods and Robert Corliss in the 200 yd freestyle. In the 100 yd breaststroke, senior Danny Reimchen advances to state and significant time improvements were made by seniors Matt Chandra and Ian Berriel. Junior Ben Gregg dropped dramatic seconds from both the 200 yd freestyle and 500 yd freestyle, while sophomore Jacob Potter bested his personal time in the 100 yd breaststroke by over five seconds. In the 200 yd IM, freshman Kevin Vanpoelvoorde made an impressive time drop and freshman Cooper Clausen also dropped time in the 50 yd freestyle. The Dragon divers are in the pool on Thursday, Feb 21 and the swimmers return on Friday, Feb 22 for the OOA Red Division Finals.
